WindSportTracker V2 — the biggest update since launch
Since January 2026, WindSportTracker Version 2 is available on all platforms. What started as an Android-only app is now a complete rebuild: iPhone, Android, Apple Watch, Wear OS and Web — on every device, on every screen.

Now on every device
Version 1 was Android-only. Version 2 runs everywhere:

The interface is optimized for both small smartwatch displays and large monitors. On a big screen at your PC or tablet, speed charts, maneuver analysis and wave ride breakdowns are far more comfortable to review than on a phone.
Completely redesigned
The entire app has been visually overhauled:
- Logbook with dividers: Navigate to a specific month or year quickly — no more endless scrolling
- Visual analytics: Sessions are now presented with charts and diagrams. See the quality of a session at a glance — instead of just reading numbers
- Optimized for every screen: From a watch display to a 27" monitor
Cloud sync — one account, all devices
Version 2 stores your data in a dedicated cloud hosted in Germany. This means:
- Work across devices: Record a session on your Apple Watch, analyze it on your PC in the evening
- No more export/import when switching devices: New phone? Just log in, all your data is there
- Your data stays in Germany: Servers in Germany, GDPR-compliant, your data belongs to you
13+ sports instead of just 2
In Version 1 there was windsurfing and kitesurfing — wingfoil was just a discipline within windsurfing. In Version 2, every sport is independent with its own tailored analysis:

Each sport has its own analysis algorithms. Wingfoil sessions are analyzed differently from windsurf sessions — because different maneuvers, speeds and movement patterns matter.
Deeper analysis through more computing power
Because the analysis in Version 2 runs on powerful cloud servers instead of on your phone, results are more accurate and sport-specific.

Detailed analysis of individual maneuvers
New in V2: You can examine every single maneuver, every wave ride and every speed run in detail. The app shows you:
- Your strong side: Which side do your jibes work better on? What do your best tacks look like?
- Where the weaknesses are: Speed loss during jibes, failed 360s, direction issues on wave rides
- Progress over time: Compare the same maneuvers across multiple sessions
This is the difference between “I was on the water today” and “I know exactly what to work on next time”.

You can now assign as much gear as you want to each session — e.g. board + sail + fin + mast + boom at the same time. Gear can be tagged with labels and found quickly using filters. Old or rented gear can be hidden without deleting it.
Smartwatch connections built into the app
Garmin, Suunto, Polar, Coros
In Version 2, these watches can be connected directly to WindSportTracker. Once set up, sessions are transferred automatically — no manual FIT export needed.
You can set filters so that only watersport activities are synced. Running or cycling sessions from the same watch won’t end up in WindSportTracker.
Apple Watch & Wear OS
For Apple Watch and Wear OS (Samsung Galaxy Watch, Pixel Watch) there are now native WindSportTracker apps. Record sessions directly from your wrist — with live display of speed, distance and duration.
File import: More formats than ever
V2 supports significantly more import formats — making WindSportTracker compatible with virtually every GPS device watersport athletes use:

Especially interesting for speed sailors: Motion GPS (OAO), ESP-GPS (GPY) and Vakaros Atlas (VKX) are specialized GPS devices widely used in the windsurf speed scene. WindSportTracker is one of the few apps that can import these formats directly.
Upgrading from V1 to V2
The switch is simple:
- Install WindSportTracker V2 (iOS App Store, Google Play Store, or web at app.windsporttracker.com)
- Create an account
- Android users: Your V1 sessions are automatically migrated after registration. A detailed guide is available in the Forum: Android Data Migration Guide V1 → V2
- From now on, all new sessions are stored in the cloud
What does Version 2 cost?
The pricing model remains fair and transparent:
- 27-day free trial — full functionality, nothing locked
- After that: from 2.70€/month or from 27€/year
- No difference between platforms — one account, all devices
- Prices may vary by app store and country due to taxes and exchange rates

Is Version 2 available for Android? Yes, Version 2 is available for iOS, Android, Apple Watch, Wear OS and Web. Android users from V1 can upgrade directly to V2.

What happens after the trial period? You’ll be notified in advance. If you don’t want to continue, the trial simply ends — no subscription trap, no hidden costs.
